Residential Water Treatment

Brodex are water treatment specialists in the social care sector. Services include legionella risk assessments, care home water testing and sampling, water tank servicing, heating systems maintenance and TMV servicing. We are committed to assisting this sector given the vulnerability of those individuals in residential care. This includes children, elderly people, those with reduced mental capacity and also those who cannot act quickly enough to prevent injury.

Care home water testing covers everything from the dangers of infection, for example Legionnaire’s disease, to preventing the scalding that may occur when residents are exposed to hot water when showering. Our care home water testing service truly helps to maintain a cleaner and safer environment for all residents.

In this case study, Brodex carried out a full care home testing service for a residential care home. We were firstly assigned to test the risk of Legionella, after which we implemented all the necessary remedial actions such as the reconditioning, water chlorination and fitting of a rodent screen in their cold water tanks. Every remedial action was made to keep in line with Byelaw 30. Byelaw 30 states that a water tank must always be securely fixed and free of any damage to ensure that the water has not been contaminated.

Residential Water Treatment goes further than cold water tank testing, it also involves managing the risks of hot water and surfaces in social care. Hot water must be assessed and maintained to ensure the temperature is never higher than 44oC. This is stated in the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.
