Legionella Prevention – Understand Your Obligations

If you are an employer, or in charge of premises, then you must carry out regular legionella risk assessments to identify areas where legionella bacterium may already be growing or have the potential to grow. There are a range of tasks to undertake including a review of the building’s pipework system, testing of hot and cold water at key points throughout the building and a search for aerosol formation hazards. Get a basic water management scheme in place and make sure staff understand their obligations and how to prevent and control risk. Clear Out Your Heating Systems

Now the weather is warming up a bit, it is easier to undertake maintenance on your heating system. Giving it a good flush-out will combat the risk of erosion and ensure everything is running efficiently and not costing you more than it should! A chemical treatment will also rid your system of harmful bacteria that can cause blockages and damage to pipework.
