RPZ Testing and Servicing

RPZ valve testing, servicing and maintenance to help maintain effective backflow protection and ongoing compliance.

When does an RPZ valve require testing or servicing?

Reduced Pressure Zone (RPZ) valves, also known as Type BA backflow prevention devices, are used to protect drinking water supplies against backflow risks up to and including Fluid Category 4.

RPZ valves must be regularly compliance tested by a competent RPZ tester to confirm that they are installed correctly and functioning as required. Testing intervals are set by the local water undertaker and will be at least annually, although more frequent testing may be specified.

Servicing or remedial work may be required where testing identifies a fault or where components are no longer operating effectively. RPZ valves also require compliance testing following repair or relocation, as well as commissioning testing before a newly installed valve is brought into service.

BrodexTrident can support the ongoing testing, servicing and maintenance of RPZ valves to help ensure effective backflow protection and continued compliance with the requirements set by your water undertaker.

Why choose BrodexTrident for RPZ valve testing & servicing?

Competent RPZ testing

RPZ valves must be tested by a competent RPZ tester at intervals set by the local water undertaker, which will be at least annually. Our service supports the required testing and ongoing management of installed RPZ valves.

Practical site-based support

We can assess the condition and performance of existing RPZ valves, identify servicing or remedial requirements and advise on the appropriate next steps where faults are found.

Support with ongoing compliance

We can help clients maintain appropriate RPZ testing records and support the actions required following commissioning, compliance testing or repairs. Newly installed and replacement RPZ valves require commissioning and compliance testing before being brought into service.

What can RPZ valve testing & servicing include?

Compliance testing

On-site testing can be carried out to confirm that the RPZ valve is installed correctly and that its key components are functioning as required.

Servicing and fault investigation

Where testing identifies a fault or performance issue, we can investigate the cause and carry out appropriate servicing or maintenance where required.

Repairs, replacement and retesting

Where components or valves require repair or replacement, the necessary remedial work can be completed followed by appropriate retesting to confirm satisfactory operation. Where an RPZ valve fails compliance testing, the required action must be coordinated with the relevant water undertaker.

Whether you require routine compliance testing, servicing following a fault, or support after a failed test, BrodexTrident can provide practical RPZ valve support to help maintain effective backflow protection and ongoing compliance.
